What is Fair Education

Fair Education Santa Barbara is a non-profit corporation formed to advocate for our children, students, and teachers in our public schools and universities. All Board Members are volunteers and have made personal financial contributions to Fair Education Santa Barbara.

It is our intention to ensure that public funds are not used for improper purposes, such as programs which discriminate on the basis of race, national origin, sex, or any other constitutionally prohibited status. It is also our intention to ensure that state and federal laws are followed in awarding contracts for goods and services so that cronyism, favoritism, waste and mismanagement may be spotlighted and eliminated.

On December 10th, 2018, our attorneys, led by former California Attorney General candidate Eric Early, filed a Complaint for Declaratory and Injunctive Relief to stop the Santa Barbara Unified School District (SBUSD) from continuing its improper relationship with the Just Communities Central Coast (JCCC) contract. The goals of this lawsuit are to 1) force public disclosure of JCCC’ curriculum 2) protect all school children from discrimination by enforcing Federal and State constitutional and statutory principles and c) to shine a light on the serious conflicts of interest between SDUSD and JCCC which has enabled all of this to take place
